Library Media Center 

Philosophy

 

          The philosophy of the Hodgeman County Public Schools,  USD 227 Library Media Center is to ensure the privileges and intellectual freedom of the learning community as stated in the following documents: "Library Bill of Rights" (ALA),  "Access to Resources and Services in the School Library Media Program" (ALA), "AASL Statement on Confidentiality of Library Records" (ALA), and "American Library Association Code of Ethics."

 

          The Library Media Center will promote authentic activities to develop information literacy within the learning community.  In collaboration with the staff, the LMC will augment classroom instruction using information literacy standards, curriculum guidelines, and KESA standards as a reinforcement of student learning.

 

          The Library Media Center will become a resource for the learning community, providing access to information through technology and a balanced collection of materials in a friendly yet professional atmosphere conducive to intellectual development and effective learning. 

 

Mission Statement

 

The USD 227 Hodgeman County School Library Media Centers will ensure that students & staff become effective lifelong users of ideas & information by providing:

  • Free & equitable access to materials that meet intellectual, curricular, & recreational needs.
  • Instruction in information retrieval & networking with available resources.
